Lorraine big thief meaning1/8/2024 As sweet as this moment with this guy is, the narrator though would welcome her ex- back in a heartbeat.Īnd speaking of sweet, this is melodically probably the sweetest song on the album: the burbling guitars and bass and the falsetto backing vocals, the simple beat and Adrianne's gorgeous little melody make this such a ray of leafy sunshine. She is still very much dwelling in this sweet nostalgia, while also acknowledging the sweetness of the present moment: this is a real calling card for Adrianne up to now. It's hard not to wonder how much of these songs are culled directly from Adrianne's own experience and how much spring from the imagination. I interpret this song to be about some ex-lover (a woman) who has left the narrator who is now in a new relationship with a man. This very much sounds like an Adrianne song, by which I mean that it could have graced any of the three solo works we've gone over before Big Thief proper came on the scene. The interlocking guitars are nice and even the sudden end is another unexpected element in a song that is really quite full of them. "Objects" is a very interesting composition: the central riff that the verse is built around is pretty but, yes repetitive.but then the song goes to very unexpected and unusual places.the lyrics strike me as mainly being some kind of depiction of earthy, normal love: not really romantic, or gooey, just matter-of-fact, but the genius notes that claim that it's about distorted perception is probably where it's at.
